Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 22, 2026

1. Who We Are

Vantage Test Prep (“Vantage,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the ACT preparation platform available at prepwithvantage.com(the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

Questions? Contact us at privacy@prepwithvantage.com

2. Age Requirement

The Service is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We collect your date of birth during sign-up and do not permit registration by anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we discover that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete that account and all associated data promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@prepwithvantage.com and we will investigate within 72 hours.

If you are between 13 and 17, you are a minor under this Policy. We will not sell or share your personal information for college matching unless your parent or legal guardian provides verifiable consent (see Section 5). We recommend that a parent or legal guardian review this Privacy Policy with you.

3. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account credentials: email address and password (passwords are hashed; we never see them in plain text)
  • Profile information: first name, last name, date of birth, and parent or guardian email address
  • ACT goals: target score, planned test date, preferred rest day, and whether to include the Science section
  • Academic profile (optional, Step 4 of onboarding): GPA range, zip code, intended college major, and colleges you are considering
  • Payment information: billing details processed directly by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number
  • Bug reports: problem description, the page URL where the issue occurred, and browser/device information

Information generated through your use

  • Study activity: practice session results, individual question responses, section scores, skill-level scores, daily streaks, and cumulative progress
  • Usage data: the pages you visit, features you use, and how you interact with the Service, collected through our hosting infrastructure (Vercel)
  • Device and browser information: collected when you submit a bug report

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Create and maintain your account and student profile
  • Build and adapt a personalized ACT study plan based on your diagnostic results, target score, and test date
  • Serve practice questions and track your performance by section and skill
  • Generate AI-powered explanations for practice questions (processed by Anthropic — see Section 6)
  • Send transactional emails, including weekly progress summaries and study reminders, to you and, where provided, your parent or guardian
  • Process payments through Stripe
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues you report
  • Improve the quality, accuracy, and personalization of the Service
  • Comply with applicable law and enforce these policies

5. College Matching — Sale & Sharing of Your Information (Optional Opt-In)

During onboarding (and any time afterward), you may choose to opt in to college matching by agreeing that Vantage may share and sell your profile to matching colleges and universities so they can contact you about scholarships, enrollment, and opportunities. If you opt in, this is a “sale” and/or “sharing” of your personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws.

If you opt in, we may share and sell the following to participating colleges and universities:

  • First name, last name, and email address
  • GPA range, ZIP code, intended major, and ACT target score
  • The colleges you indicated you are considering

This opt-in is entirely voluntary. Choosing not to opt in does not affect your access to any feature of the Service.

If you are under 18, we will not sell or share your information until your parent or guardian approves. When a minor opts in, we email the parent or guardian address on file with a request to approve; nothing is shared or sold unless and until they approve.

You can opt out at any time using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control, and we will stop any future sale or sharing within 30 days. Opting out does not affect data already received by a college before you opted out. Receiving institutions are required to use the data for direct student outreach (admissions, scholarships, and enrollment inquiries) and to comply with applicable law.

6. How We Share Your Information

We sell or share your personal information only for the optional college matching described in Section 5, and only if you opt in (and, for users under 18, only with parental approval). You can opt out at any time via Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. Apart from that program, we share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers (processors): We share data with companies that help us deliver the Service, under contracts that restrict their use of your data to providing services to us:
    • Supabase — database storage and user authentication
    • Vercel — application hosting and delivery
    • Stripe — payment processing
    • Resend — transactional and weekly email delivery
    • Anthropic — AI-generated practice question explanations
    • Inngest — background job scheduling (used to trigger weekly emails)
  • University partners (opt-in only): As described in Section 5, only if you have affirmatively opted in.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Vantage, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: If Vantage is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is subject to a materially different privacy policy.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and study data for as long as your account remains active. If you request account deletion, we will delete or irreversibly anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it longer by law (for example, payment records required for tax or fraud prevention purposes, retained for up to 7 years).

Anonymized, aggregated data (such as overall score improvement statistics) may be retained indefinitely and cannot be traced back to you.

8. Your Privacy Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your account and associated personal data
  • Opt out of sale/sharing: Stop the sale or sharing of your information for college matching at any time via Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
  • Data portability: Request your study data in a portable format

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, the right to correct your information, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We sell and share personal information only for the optional college matching described in Section 5, and only with your opt-in (and parental approval for users under 18). You can exercise your right to opt out using our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@prepwithvantage.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Authorized Agent (California)

A parent, legal guardian, or authorized agent may submit a privacy rights request on behalf of a minor or incapacitated individual. We may require verification of the relationship before fulfilling the request.

To exercise any of the above rights, email us at privacy@prepwithvantage.com. We will respond within 45 days (or as required by applicable law).

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all traffic
  • Database-level Row Level Security (RLS) enforced by Supabase
  • Hashed passwords — we never store or see plain-text passwords
  • Payment data handled entirely by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant)

No system is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to privacy@prepwithvantage.com rather than disclosing it publicly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. For material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address on file) or by posting a prominent notice within the Service at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
